Concept: for our second project we hope to create an object that uses the warmth of the human touch to transform the cold appearance of technology. The object we are trying to create is a lamp zoetrope that combines different kinds of hand drawings in a subliminal way. The projector in the center plays a hand drawn walk cycle onto the paper cylinder which spins in the opposite direction at the same rate. Participants are able to draw their own lamp sheaths and change the walking environment of the character.
this is a single example of a hand drawn animation that I drafted, but we are thinking of several animations like: a baby walking, a couple holding hands, a child skipping, fish swimming, a scooter, a toy airplane flying, rowing a boat and swimming breaststroke.
at the moment we are still deciding what the input of the lamp should be. what kind of interaction controls the speed and movement of our piece.
